Maloun Crook (Kroger 514) Competes in Martial Arts

Maloun Cook (Kroger 514) will celebrate 25 years as a UFCW Local 1059 member in September. He has served as a Union Steward for over 10 years. He is a Dairy Department Head and a hard worker.

He is also an award-winning Master of Shōrin-ryū Karate.

Maloun has been training in the martial arts for over 13 years. His dedication and expertise have helped him attain the title of Master. Shōrin-ryū is one of the oldest and most prominent forms of Okinawan martial arts. Its style of Karate dates back hundreds of years and is predicated on self-defense.

While participating in the martial arts competitions at the 2025 Arnold Classic in Columbus, Maloun placed in the Open Hand as well as the Weapons events. He hopes to compete in the Arnold Classic again this year.

Learning karate requires physical and mental discipline that can be helpful outside of martial arts. If you would like to know more or wish to train in self-defense, you can reach Maloun at The Rick Moore Academy in Whitehall.
