Fox in the Snow Workers Vote "Union Yes"
On April 6, workers at the Fox in the Snow Café Commissary in Columbus, Ohio, voted unanimously to join UFCW Local 1059 for a better life. This organizing win marks the second Fox in the Snow location to join UFCW Local 1059, which also represents Fox in the Snow café workers in Westerville.
Workers from the Westerville location chose to join UFCW Local 1059 by a two-to-one margin on March 20, 2026. The unit includes baristas, bakers, and dishwashers at the Westerville, OH worksite.
The seventeen workers from the Commissary produce baked goods and sandwiches that are then distributed to the five Fox in the Snow Café locations in the greater Columbus area. The Commissary workers joined our union because they wanted retirement options and safer working conditions.
The campaign to organize these workers included weekly meetings about the benefits of joining our union. Workers from the café in Westerville talked to their coworkers at the Commissary about the better wages and benefits that come with a union contract.
Throughout the organizing campaign, Local 1059 SPURs (rank-and-file union members released from their worksites to help with organizing) were critical to the effort.
“We are excited to join our union co-workers from the Westerville location, and hope all Fox in the Snow workers in Columbus will join us, as well!” said the workers in a joint statement.
