Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive
UFCW Local 1059 is honored to partner with the National Association of Letter Carriers for the annual Letter Carrier’s Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, which takes place on the second Saturday of May each year.
For over 30 years, the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) has conducted an annual nationwide food drive using the unparalleled postal networks that allow letter carriers collect non-perishable food donations as they deliver mail along their postal routes. It is held in 10,000 cities and towns in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Guam.
Here’s how you can participate (click each step to reveal details):
Fill the bag
Fill a paper or plastic bag with canned vegetables, canned fruit, canned tuna, peanut butter, canned soup, pasta/pasta sauce, or cereal. These are the kinds of healthy non-perishable items hungry families need.
Leave the bag by your mailbox the morning of the second Saturday in May
Put your bag of non-perishable food by your mailbox for your letter carrier on the second Saturday in May. Be sure to leave it out with plenty of time before normal mail delivery to be sure your participating letter carrier sees it!
Spread the word!
Tell your family and friends to participate. Help us make this year’s effort the biggest and most successful yet! Take a photo and post it to social media — Show people your filled bag and inspire your followers to join the #StampOutHunger food drive.
